Helen and Caroline met in a crowded staffroom 12 years ago. Both were English-as-a-second language teachers bringing up young families in a foreign country. Their friendship developed over the course of many cappuccinos as they discussed subjects ranging from how to get your child to eat vegetables to entertaining ways to teach future tenses.
Since then, they have taught English to all ages from 3-year-old children to 80-year-old retirees in a variety of situations from private language schools to universities, public state schools to nurseries, summer camps and beauty salons. It is this wealth of knowledge and experience that led them to create EnglishSphereOnline, a unique online course to help you achieve your goal of reaching a desired level of English.
After completing a degree in modern languages, Caroline gained her CELTA certificate in London in 2005 and went on to do a DELTA whilst working as a Director of Studies in a language school. She has extensive experience of preparing students for Cambridge, IELTS and TESOL exams and has also taught IGCSE courses as part of CLIL programmes in state schools. Her particular interest is in how young children acquire a second language and how this affects the language learning process in teenagers and adults.
Helen is a dedicated and passionate English teacher who has been helping students of all levels achieve their English language goals for more than 12 years. As a TEFL-certified teacher, she regularly attends courses and workshops to stay up-to-date on the latest teaching methods and best practices. Her particular interest is in teaching dyslexic students and she has led teacher training courses on how to create supportive and inclusive learning environments where all students can succeed.
Together they have more than 20 years’ experience of both English language teaching and examining and have also worked on joint projects including research for the European Union into updating the descriptors of the CEFR, the development of a curriculum for very young learners based on storytelling and drama projects to engage teenagers in literature.
The courses available at EnglishSphereOnline reflect their beliefs about how we learn English and the need to see the language in a meaningful context. Their understanding of both the processes involved in language acquisition and the various structures and grammar needed to attain competence at the ascending levels, mean that when you follow a course with EnglishSphereOnline you will be guided through the steps by capable and experienced hands.
